Snickers, Portage’s Prickly Prognosticator, enjoys a cob of corn at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center while checking for his shadow yesterday and … he did not see his shadow (probably due to the fog in Portage Valley) and we will take it! Therefore, we will enjoy an early spring at the Center and we look forward to it! Warming temperatures, melting snow and new baby animals – all equal the excitement and fun of the summer to come at the Wildlife Center.

Discover the WILD of Alaska and come meet the locals! Walk on the Wild Side Tours are available year-round and include an animal encounter. Summer Moose Encounters & Bear Encounters are available for online booking. Book early to ensure your spot!
