The Giant Veggies feeding and the first Animal Enrichment Workshop are right around the corner!

The giant vegetables from the Alaska State Fair are heading south once again to the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center! Saturday, September 8th the giant herds at AWCC will devour the giant vegetables – a sight to be seen! A tractor will be loaded with the giant treats, then driven into the bear enclosure where they will feast on. The bear feeding will take place at 3:30 pm and will feature both the brown and black bears. Prized vegetables will also be served to our moose, elk, bison, and Kobuk (the adolescent black bear) throughout the day. Check the daily feeding board upon arrival for feeding times.

Back by popular demand, AWCC is hosting monthly Animal Enrichment Workshops! Do you want to create toys to enrich the lives of our animals? Do you want to learn interesting facts about the featured animals? Then you will love AWCC’s event series the Animal Enrichment Workshops, hosted on September 9th, then on the first Sunday of every month October through April. Participants in these three-hour workshops will construct toys for particular animals while learning about that species from our expert animal care staff.

If you are interested in the workshop, sign up in advance and we will waive your entrance fee. Space is limited, so visit www.alaskawildlife.org/calendar/ and sign up today.
