COVID-19 Update

We’d like to take a moment to update our followers about our operations and what we are doing to protect our visitors and employees during the COVID-19 pandemic.

We are currently open daily from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Guests will have one hour to enjoy the center if arriving at 5pm. AWCC is an outdoor facility and an excellent option for something to do while social distancing.

  • We encourage guests to buy admission tickets online.
  • Guests can come do a self-tour in their own vehicles or enjoy some fresh Alaska air as they walk the 1.5-mile loop around our facility.
    • Please respect other guests and follow the 6ft social distancing guidelines while visiting the center.
    • Due to the order implemented by Mayor Ethan Berkowitz on 6/29/2020, face masks must be worn while within all indoor areas at the AWCC. This includes Bison Hall, the Be Wild Gift Shop, and all restrooms.
  • Free Daily Education Programs and Tours have resumed with reduced occupancy guidelines, however:
    • Face masks are required to be worn by all guests participating in our education programs and tours including Free Daily Education Programs and Walk on the Wild Side Tours. Guests must provide their own face mask.
    • AWCC reserves the right to cancel the 11:30AM Naturalist’s Selection Chat and the 12:30PM Wolf Wisdom program when necessary.
    • Visit the Be Wild Gift Shop to purchase a Buff® or animal print face mask.
  • The Be Wild Gift Shop is open with reduced hours and occupancy guidelines are in effect.
    • We highly encourage guests to visit our online store.
    • Face masks are required to be worn while shopping in the Be Wild Gift Shop. Guests must provide their own face mask.
    • Reduced Hours are in effect. The Be Wild Gift Shop open daily from 11AM – 5:30PM.

AWCC takes your health, the health of our staff and our resident animals very seriously. We have implemented procedures to increase sanitation throughout the facility and will continue to monitor the situation and keep you apprised if additional measures are needed.
