Animal Adoption

By adopting an animal at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, you can enjoy animal parenthood without all the work. Our professional staff will provide the special diet, environment and veterinary care that your animal requires. You will have the satisfaction of knowing that you are helping to support your selected animal at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center.

  1. What is the ADOPT an Animal Program?
  2. By adopting an animal at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, you help pay for the daily care and feeding of that animal for a year. With almost 200 hungry mouths to feed, AWCC needs your help!

  3. Why ADOPT an animal?
  4. The Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center is a refuge for orphan and injured wildlife, providing the best possible care for our animals. By adopting an animal at AWCC, you help us provide quality animal care while helping us to meet the rising costs. Your contribution will provide food, and care for your adopted animal for one year, freeing funds for other wildlife center projects.

  5. Who can be an ADOPT parent?
  6. Anyone can be an ADOPT parent! The Ambassadors of Wildlife program is great for individuals, families, schools, scout troops, church groups, clubs or businesses wanting to sponsor wildlife at the Alaska Wildlife Cons ervation Center.

  7. How can I purchase an ADOPT package?
  8. Call the Alaska Wildlife Center at 907-783-2025 for a copy of our informational brochure and order form to be sent to you. You can fax the order form to us at 907-783-2370. You can also mail the form to: AWCC-ADOPT P.O. Box 949, Portage AK 99587

  9. How long is my ADOPT good for?
  10. All adoptions are good for one year and are renewable.

  11. Is my ADOPT tax-deductible?
  12. Yes, they are tax-deductible as charitable contributions.

All adoptions are valid for one full year. Animals are living creatures. Unfortunately, they may become ill or die, or they may be transferred to another wildlife facility. If your adopted animal leaves AWCC, your adoption will be transferred to another animal. You will have the satisfaction of knowing that you are helping to support your selected animal at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center.

AWCC Membership Form Your membership has benefits that last throughout the year. The varying levels of support listed below, describes the benefits that your membership offers. All of our supporters contribute to our efforts in preserving Alaska's wilderness through conservation, education and wildlife care. Download our Membership application, which can also be used for all other donations.

Associate Membership: $25

An associate member makes you an official part of our effort to conserve Alaska's wildlife. With your contribution, you will receive our quarterly newsletter.

Supporting Membership: $60

Our supporting membership contributes to the daily care of the wildlife at AWCC. Your membership will include a family season pass, as well as a quarterly newsletter filled with news about wildlife and the animals and events at AWCC.

Sponsor Membership: $250

Sponsor memberships assist in the upkeep of the animals enclosures. With a sponsor membership you receive all the benefits of a supporting membership plus an autograph copy of the "AWCC Guide to the Centers Wildl ife" by author and photographer Doug Lindstrand.

Conservator Membership: $500

An important part of the work that is supported by this membership is our wood bison conservation program. Conservator members will receive all the benefits of the sponsor membership, plus a personal behind the scenes tour by an AWCC staff and monthly email updates about the events and wildlife of the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center.
