Internships
We are currently seeking applicants for a summer internship position that will assist us in our education efforts. Applicants should be able to adapt to an ever-changing work environment, be self-motivated, posses excellent skills in communication and be available to work weekends and holidays. Internship Program Details
Stipend: $800.00/month.
Housing: On-site housing provided.
Work Schedule: Interns will be expected to work 8-10 hours a day, 40 hours a week.
Academic Credit: Interns may coordinate with their academic advisor and AWCC to arrange college credit.
Internship start date: The beginning of each 12 week internship will be based upon the intern's academic schedule and generally start in May/early June.
Duties Include:
- Interpreting exhibits housing live animals.
- Presenting daily demonstrations, talk and/or tours to the public.
- Developing original interpretive programs and creating interpretive materials.
- Designing, preparing and conducting wildlife education programs for school groups.
- Interacting with animal husbandry personnel.
- Planting and upkeep of the Center's "Alaska Grown Garden"
- Assisting with general maintenance of the Center and it's facilities.
- Perform other duties relating to the Center's goals and mission statement as required.
