The Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center is rolling out a new fun-filled opportunity – our Animal Enrichment Program – and we have plenty of room for you to join us. It’s all about toys! Ok, we can use the fancy term – animal enrichment – but really it’s about creating cool toys for our animals. Things like fire hose hammocks, PVC pipe foraging feeders, and all kinds of papier-mâché rip-um-up, hide-a-treat items. And for those items we can’t make, funds will be used to buy the specialized toys. Just like people, animals need toys… especially when living in human care. The enrichment items serve several purposes. They engage, stimulate and entertain the animals. And on the human side, they provide our volunteers with opportunities to create useful enrichment items for their favorite animals.
